When I have a lifetime of spare time...

During the last two decades (I'm showing my age here) I have drafted more than 200 snippets/songs. Some of them only short riffs, others full songs, with lyrics and instrumentation.

Now I'm slowly reviewing them and thinking of recording a number of them. For myself and for the rest of the world... I'll have to leave something for the kids, someday.

I'm not sure what to do with them, although. I might as well form three different bands:

  • A progressive rock band, influenced by Marillion, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree. Heavy, complex, sometimes more subtle. I currently have an offer from someone to join his group/one-man-band. I'll have to get a better amplifier though. My wife will love this.
  • A singer-songwriter, with songs and simple instrumentation (guitar, some synths), which are about emotions, feelings. I have many of these (also available on the site now), which switch between English and Dutch. This is how I currently work being "stefkeB".
  • And then there is this avant-garde part, which is inspired by a mixture of electronica and acoustics, creating more longer, less structured soundscapes. My collaboration in The Reverse Violin Company is growing in this direction.

Am I getting shizofrenic? I don't think so. I love music in different genres and I might as well attempt to make whatever I like. But not sure if this will become a whole band or album.

Only time will tell.
