Ableton Live 8

Well, every music blog seems to talk about it...

Live8 is announced and has a nice set of features. Read all the details on the Ableton Website and on numerous blogs, but for me it is huge:

  • MAX/MSP/JITTER will be integrated as a (non-free) add-on later this year
  • Akai has a dedicated controller for LIVE
  • Live8 has several nice improvements, including a vocoder, cross-fading in arrangements, a looper and some updated plugins.

It's discounted to buy, but only if you buy a new license. I get no discount from release 6, though. So I have to upgrade to 7 AND to 8 or directly to 8 (but I assume that it will be cheaper going in two steps...). Not sure what the result will be of an improved Operator in Suite 8 , if you already own Operator (but not Live Suite).

Sigh... The kind of considerations you have to make in a commercial world. And I just bought a new amplifier and am planning to buy an FX board (probably POD XT or X3 Live).
