Playing solo soon on a wedding (again)

Yesterday, I played some pieces for my brother-in-law, who is getting married this month. He asked me to play some interludes on his wedding.

I chose to use the electric guitar and my amp, since the church has no usable amplification for music. I'm still in doubt about using Ableton Live and a laptop for live looping or buy/borrow a loop station pedal (http://www.bossus.com/gear/productlist.php?ParentId=251) or even disregarding looping and play a single voice. Using Ableton is more flexible and visual and I can add FX on top of it, but then people probably start wondering if I'm reading my mail... And carrying the FX board, guitar, amp, laptop together with the rest of the stuff (car, wife, kids and camera) can be a bit too much.

But just by playing a bit with Ableton (and totally lacking a footswitch to start the looper) is so fullfilling and inspiring. Layering your own sounds live to new takes is like having half a band under your feet, in total control. That is, if I can perfect my timing.

It might be easier to use a percussion loop to build upon, though.

I'll definitely record and share the results here.
